The Chef
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 August 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use The Chef, a subscription-based food delivery mobile app that delivers meals to students.
It applies to the student-facing The Chef mobile app and any related services we provide, including account sign-up, monthly meal plan subscriptions, the meal dashboard, meal status updates, and private meal feedback. Admin and chef roles are internal operational roles, not public users of this consumer app. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
- Account details: your name, email address, and phone number, provided when you create an account or contact support.
- Delivery address: hostel, and any delivery notes needed to hand over your meal.
- Dietary and meal preferences: vegetarian/non-vegetarian choices, allergies, and plan selections.
- Subscription and payment status: purchases are processed through Google Play Billing. We receive the status of your subscription (active, renewed, cancelled, expired) and a purchase token. We do not collect or store your card, UPI, or bank details.
- Meal reviews and feedback: comments and ratings you submit privately about individual meals. These are sent only to admin and chef staff for internal feedback and are not shown to or shared with other students.
- Device and usage data: device model, operating system version, app version, language, approximate region, crash logs, and in-app activity used for diagnostics.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create your account and manage your monthly meal plan subscription.
- To prepare meals according to your dietary preferences and deliver them to your address.
- To display meals assigned by admins and prepared by chefs on your dashboard, including meal status updates (e.g. prepared, not yet prepared, delivered) and photos of prepared meals. The app does not show live location or route tracking.
- To receive and act on student feedback and reviews internally, helping chefs and admins improve the menu and service.
- To send order updates, delivery notifications, and important service notices.
- To respond to support requests and resolve billing or delivery issues.
- To improve the app's reliability, menu planning, and overall experience.
- To detect misuse and comply with legal obligations.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Student data, including meal reviews and feedback, is only accessible internally by admin and chef staff for operational purposes and is never shown to or shared with other students. We share only the minimum information needed to run the service:
- Internal admin and chef staff: your name, delivery address, phone number, meal details, and private meal reviews so orders can be assigned, prepared, delivered, and improved.
- Kitchen and delivery partners: your first name, delivery address, phone number, and meal details so your order can be prepared and handed over.
- Google Play Billing: handles subscription payments and shares purchase status with us. Google's own privacy policy governs its processing.
- Analytics and crash reporting tools: receive limited, largely aggregated device and usage data to help us fix bugs and improve performance.
- Legal requests: where disclosure is required by applicable law or to protect rights and safety.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secured servers operated by reputable cloud providers. We use encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted staff access so that only team members who need your information to fulfil an order can see it. We retain data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to meet legal and accounting requirements.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any incident promptly.
6. User Rights
You can request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate details, or request deletion of your account and data. To do so, email us at pink1887gamer@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable period. Some records may be retained where required by law. Subscriptions are managed in your Google Play account and can be cancelled there at any time.
7. Children's Privacy
The Chef is intended for users aged 13 and above, or the minimum age required by the laws of your country, whichever is higher. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe a child has used the app can contact us at pink1887gamer@gmail.com.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves or as legal requirements change. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and publish the new version on this page. For significant changes, we will also notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
